GROAT The Greatest Roast Of All Time: Tom Brady, Netflix
I had to do a lot of Googling because #sports
The worst part about this roast was the length - three hours was aggressive and I can’t imagine what it was like to be there live for it.
Thoughts as I watched:
*I didn’t know he went to Michigan and now I’m on board
*The opening package was terrible
*Kevin Hart’s opening is bad - there aren’t really jokes, it’s just facts that he’s yelling
*There’s only one fucking woman on the dais give me a break
*Jeff ross is looking old (and ultimately everybody commented on it)
*Kevin Hart just keeps saying fuck you
**But also he has the best attitude laughing at everything he seems like he’d be fun to hang with
*So far Nikki Glaser has the best jokes
**she fucking crushed; what an incredible writer, but normally I’m not a huge fan - someone else commented like “where has that writing been your entire career, so at least I’m not the only one
**she got a standing ovation - deserved
*The closeup on Joel McHale struggling with how harsh Nikki is is so funny
*I wanna know who wrote the jokes for the football players
*Why did they boo kim kardashian
*some of these people keep moving their faces away from the mic - someone should have let them practice
*Sam Jay got a standing o with a strap on joke
*Bledsoe is a good fucking sport and really seems to be having a good time
This does not need to be three hours
*They’re choosing such weird audience shots
*Julian Edelman is having a great set
**His Hamas joke was great
*Uh oh am I a kill Tony fan I dunno his real name so maybe not
**But that set was rapid fire and so good
*Also I feel bad he didn’t make fun of Tom Segura - he was the only one who didn’t get hit
*Also nobody is making fun of Nikki Glaser and I’m wondering if they pulled all their jokes after she said I have a boyfriend of ten years
*You guys gronk 😂
*Also loving watching everyone lose their minds over Bill Belichick showing up, performing, taking shots with the team - I don’t know who anybody is, but it was sweet. He also had a p. good set
*Andrew Schulz is confusing but did okay
*Ben Affleck showed up with a PSA about trolls and didn’t even shake anyone’s hand after, he just walked off?
*Peyton Manning did so well! V impressed
*Kevin fixing Brady’s jacket as he stood up is full brotherhood
Overall - a good watch. You can fast forward through some of the roasters, and I’m a little confused why the dais was full of people who didn’t speak? Is that normal?
It was too long for me, but maybe that’s because I don’t do sports. Kevin Hart wasn’t a great host, but had some sweet moments and mostly just said what we were all thinking throughout, sprinkled with “fuck you, tom” and no jokes.
Should watch.
