I’m not sold on it yet, but pilots are hard, so I’ll give it a go.
*very clearly trying to give desperate housewives
*these dry murder dramedy shows are the only shows getting picked up right now
*i’ve gotten so used to streaming shows, I forget what cable dialogue sounds like
*started the show with a dog that gets shot
*nobody’s crying real tears - acting issue
*melissa fumero is wonderful
*they tried to squeeze a LOT of exposition into this episode, which obv, but I think some of the pizazz got left behind in the doing
*ex: brett helps a man on the side of the road fix his car, but we have no idea how he ended up with this man - does he have his number listed somewhere? did he happen to drive by this man? it was so random
*the dead person’s phone being left behind has become a trope of the genre
*also, melissa fumero’s character has to do community service for drunk driving, but her community service is working in a bougie garden club? ok…
*the cliffhanger is that the garden club president wants to dig up the entire garden to build a koi pond…?
It’s the genre of show I’ve been craving again (Bad Sisters, Deadloch, etc.) but I’m not sure this is going to do it for me. TBD
